I'm surprised, but shouldn't be: Clive Bundy has garnered the support of the anti-Gubmint crowd, but the local conservative politicians in Nevada that fomented for violence are suddenly MIA - Nowhere to be seen. Even Sarah Palin - who prior to the Tucson shootings would have been front, center and screechy - is silent....so far ( Expect her to jump in after the dust settles ).
Conservative extremists have taken Clive Bundy on as a hero to their movement. Nevermind he's nothing more than a man who refuses to pay what 99.9% of other cattle ranchers pay, he...doesn't...care. Two court orders, and nearly twenty years later, he's still fouling and not paying for the federal land he's been using. To add insult to injury, he's expanded his lawbreaking to the Lake Meade National Recreation Area.
No one individual out of government has proved to be so flippant towards his fellow citizens ( save for maybe Charles Manson and the like, but that's a different kind of crime. ). He's thumbing his nose and extending his middle finger to the rest of society, something conservative extremists are oddly approving of.
But let's make one giant thing clear, out of the gate: Clive Bundy is not a man to admire, or even sympathize with. He's a common criminal, who believes he can now literally get away with brazenly breaking the law and ignoring two court orders. What Conservatopia sees in him is beyond me, but this I know:
He's no Nelson Mandela, regardless of what his crackpotted backers say.
