Here in gun-nut central - Phoenix, AZ. there is a "Gun Show". The Crossroads of the West gun show is currently taking place near downtown and is likely to attract thousands of attendees interested in firearms. Also in attendance will be hundreds of second amendment extremists, living in fear of their perceived second amandment rights being taken away by president Obama.
I want to clear up one major misconceptioin before I continue: No one - not the president, not the Vice President, Nor Dianne Feinstein or Nancy Pelosi is going to "take your guns away", and have not said they want to. It's a fallacy of hyped up rhetoric promoted by the NRA.
OK. The hypocrisy I mention in the headline comes from the fact that at the Crossroads of the West gun show, the organizer tells all attendees that only unloaded firearms are allowed, and any magazines are to be empty also. Another group holding a rally, protesting president Obama's addressing gun violence by pursuing new firearms restrictions is set for next month. The Sonoran Alliance bills itself as "Extremely Conservative", and also tells all who plan to attend that all firearms are to be unloaded, and magazines should be kept in pockets.
These measures are far more restrictive than anything president Obama, Senator Dianne Feinstein or anyone else has proposed, yet the extremists are fine with that. HUH?? Their beloved NRA rails on and on about president Obama wanting to "take your guns away", yet they're just hunkey dorey with being told they cannot carry a loaded firearm into a gun show?? WTH?? The stated reson is for "Safety"
Maybe between all the rhetorical fear being spread by the NRA they missed the fact that Safety is the very reason president Obama is pursuing new and better firearms legislation, and has introduced new restrictions.
I guess firearms regulation is OK as long as it's not coming from president Obama. That is Hypocrisy with a capital H.
